Abstract

This community service aims to analyze the application of simple mechanical technology in mangrove rehabilitation activities in Brandan Barat Subdistrict, Langkat Regency. Against the backdrop of mangrove ecosystem damage reaching 740 ha (61.67%), this initiative seeks to reduce the physical burden on workers and improve the efficiency of mangrove rehabilitation. The innovation of this community service lies in the development of an ergonomic mechanical tool made from lightweight composite materials, capable of reducing body strain by up to 30%. The methods include designing a prototype of the mechanical tool, conducting ergonomic, anthropometric, and biomechanical tests, as well as testing material durability. The results show that 75% of respondents feel comfortable using the tool, and 75% also rate the tool as effective in increasing rehabilitation productivity. The tool used can reduce the risk of injury and improve work efficiency by up to 30%. The conclusion of this community service is that the application of ergonomic mechanical tools can significantly accelerate mangrove rehabilitation and reduce the physical burden on users
